WHERE THE MONEY RAISED GOES
The 173,865 members from our 314 Surf Life Saving clubs across Australia help protect people during the 100 million beach visitations each year. Our lifesavers ensure that our beaches remain among the safest in the world. The cost of providing this lifesaving service is only possible thanks to the dedicated support from the community. These much needed funds are directed into three main priority services:
1. RESCUE GEAR AND EQUIPMENT
Rescue gear and equipment represents the biggest single cost to running lifesaving services in Australia. Due to the harsh elements on the Australian coast maintenance or eventual replacement are needed to make sure that rescue gear and equipment is rescue ready.
2. TRAINING SURF LIFESAVERS
Training lifesavers to industry standards can be costly. Training manuals and course materials need to be regularly updated, equipment like rescue mannikins and first aid supplies allow for realistic practice in real-world scenarios, and administrative support for our volunteer trainers and assessors need to be provided.
3. COMMUNITY EDUCATION PROGRAMS
We produce safety awareness information for members of the public, including posters, flyers, signage and more. We also offer affordable training programs to members of the public through our commercial operations.
